Overcoming Self-Hatred
March 31, 2010
Many people, especially women, suffer from self-hatred and don’t even realize it. Self-hatred is probably the main cause of low self-esteem and lack of self confidence. Self-hatred also causes obesity, other eating disorders and health issues.
Recognizing Self-Hatred
The first step in overcoming self-hatred is recognizing it. Whenever you think or say a negative thought about yourself, such as “I’m ugly”, “I’m too fat”, “I’m not good enough” or “I couldn’t possibly do [insert dream or goal you want to reach here]”, is actually self-hatred. Some of you may have even come to the point where you’re not speaking negative things about yourself; however you are still thinking them, which continues to have negative effects in your life. So, begin by taking a mental note of your thoughts when you look in the mirror or any other time throughout the day.
How to Stop Hating Yourself
If you hear yourself thinking anything along the lines of “I’m ugly”, “I’m not thin enough”, “Look at this ugly cellulite” or whatever the negative thoughts are, stop them immediately. Don’t allow the negative thought to continue and then turn the negative thought into a positive one. For example, as soon as you catch yourself thinking “I’m not pretty enough”, think about a trait of yours that you do like. Perhaps it’s your hair or your eyes. Think about compliments you’ve received from others and focus on those. Then say to yourself, “I do have pretty eyes (or whatever you’ve been complimented on).
Then same thing goes with negative thoughts about your abilities. When you find yourself thinking thoughts like “I could never [insert desire or dream here]”, turn that thought around, into a positive thought, like “I can make $5000 a month” or whatever your desired income or dream is.
Overcoming self-hatred can be done if you have the right tools and support. If you’re in a situation where you’re being fed negative thoughts from someone all the time, it may be more difficult to see yourself any differently, for instance. But, you don’t have to listen to those lies nor do you have to believe them. How you feel about yourself is completely up to you! Stop listening to those negative thoughts and start believing in yourself and seeing the true you, the one that you know is deep inside, yearning to come out.
As a Life Coach, it is my passion to help you overcome self-hatred, low self esteem and lack of self confidence. .

A Life Coach, Do I Really Need One?
March 31, 2010
When someone first hears the term life coach, many immediately begin thinking skeptical. What is it that a life coach is supposed to do and why would I need one are traditional questions which instantly arise. From those initial questions, curiosity usually consumes most people to determine what this person is and if they truly need to look at hiring an individual to coach them on their lives.
As time passes on, most individuals relinquish some of their hopes and dreams as aspects of life which will never come to fruition. These individuals begin feeling discouraged as there may be activities or opportunities they wish to pursue; but feel they will not receive the support or the encouragement which would help them fulfill their goal. A life coach is an individual which comes to ones aide providing encouragement, motivation and direction for an individual who may have become stagnant in their life. The life coach is able to sit across from a person and during a short interview or counseling session, the coach is able to develop a clear picture of what may be holding someone back and develop a clear structured plan to help overcome the challenge which may exist.
Depending on the type of life coach one may employ, an individual may find assistance with general aspects of their daily lives, business development, and personal goals which might have rendered difficulty in the past. It is not uncommon for a person to reach out to their life coach before walking in to deliver a speech or business proposal. The life coach often establishes times for personal meetings, phone calls or emails to further provide the encouragement or motivation one may need at just the right time.
For many this may sound like a friend, and although friendships develop this person is a professional consultant hired to assist, support and provide candid feedback to you. Often a friend may not share that honest response in fear of damaging a friendship, the life coach is hired do provide that to you. The life coach, depending upon specialty, varies in cost ranging from a set price per hour to a set price per month. Pending on the service you select, the type of coaching needed, and the amount of contact will all encompass the final price. These costs could range from less than $100 an hour to upwards of over $1000 per month.

5 Ways To Reduce Stress Naturally
March 29, 2010
If stress, depression or anxiety is turning your life into a living hell, the following 5 techniques will help you reduce stress anxiety and depression naturally and quickly.
At the start of a new week, arrange several enjoyable activities spread over the whole week that you really enjoy. Going to the movies, a night at the theater, a nice meal in a restaurant, visiting family, a concert – whatever you like. This will give you plenty of things to look forward to throughout the week and alleviate that “the week is a slog” feeling.
Avoid comparing yourself to others who find themselves in extremely difficult situations in life. Doing so will only lead to you feeling guilty. For example, you see a report about a poverty in India and you think “why do I feel like this when there’s people who have it much worse than I do.” Your circumstances in life are your circumstances and are nothing to do with anything or anyone else. Comparing yourself to others will not help you in anyway. What’s important is that you know stress, anxiety and depression are real problems that can be overcome naturally so don’t
think about the situations others are in, concentrate on getting better.
Brooding continually about all of the problems you face in your life is a habit guaranteed to trigger stress, depression and anxiety. It’s so important to “switch off” from problems and a really good method to help you is to listen to music. So, arrange a music night where you can shut out the world and enjoy listening to your favourite music. It doesn’t have to be the soothing, mellow music, you can listen to whatever music gives you pleasure and if you want to sing, dance or play air guitar, go ahead! If you want to just relax and listen to music with a glass of wine, no problem! It’s your music night, listen to music you enjoy and immerse yourself in it. Avoid playing any music that is sad, or emotional and that may trigger painful memories from the past. That’s not what you’re aiming for here.
Listening to music is an excellent way to reduce stress, depression and anxiety and I urge you to make a music night a regular event in your diary.
Burnout is an ever increasing problem in our society. As if a full working day isn’t enough, many people return home and have to do even more work to run the family home, prepare meals, time for the children and a never-ending stream of other chores and people all demanding your attention. So make “me time” a priority. Schedule at least one 20 minute break away from the firing line so you can you can relax in peace. At home, ensure you make time each day so you can rest and relax. Rest and
relaxation are vital in maintaining both mental and physical health and they’ll help reduce stress, depression and anxiety.
Feeling as if you’re trapped in a rut or that your life is going nowhere is another part of stressful illnesses and this feeling can trigger depression. Performing the same routines each and every day really isn’t good for us. OK, we do need to have some security, but a problem arises if we live life in fear of taking even the slightest risk. So, make an effort to break out of your comfort zone and try something new. Start a course, a fitness program, try a new sport, learn a musical instrument, go on a activity holiday or take up a new hobby. This will help to keep you fresh as overcoming a challenge gives you a buzz and increases the enjoyment you get from life. What a great way to reduce stress!
You can significantly reduce stress by using the above tips as often as you can. Try and apply at least one of them every day and you will see a big difference.

5 Reasons You Should Get a Life Coach
March 26, 2010
According to the Synergy Institute, 70% of people who work with life coaches find it valuable. This information is one reason why you should consider getting a life coach.
Your own personal coach will help maximize you personally and professionally by:
1. Showing you all of the points of view.
Need a second opinion? You do if your current train of thought and action is getting you nowhere. A life coach will show you views of your current situation that you presently can’t fathom. It is the main reason why a life coach is valuable. He opens up your mind.
2. Holding you accountable.
Do you know why dieters are more successful when they join a group? It is because they are held accountable by a group of people. A life coach also does the same thing. He won’t let you slack on your goals or make up excuses why you can’t accomplish a goal. It’s the kind of in-your-face accountability that’ll help you succeed.
3. Summoning your higher self.
If sounds of failure are drowning out the inner voice telling you to come up higher, you need a life coach. A life coach will help you listen to your higher self. It’s the part of you that wants to quit smoking, start a business, love at a higher level and lose the extra weight. This being just needs an extra push in order to come forth and take control.
4. Pinpointing your dreams.
Are you confused about what you really want? Do you lack focus? Are your goals blurry? A life coach will help you pin down what you really desire. It’ll be accomplished through a lot of talking, listing of goals and self-realization. These things are just what you need to get “clear.”
5. Patting you on the back.
No man is an island. As a result, we all need a little encouragement from time to time to continue on with our dreams. A life coach can offer you this. He’ll be with you along the way to meeting your goals and remind you of your successes big and small. It’ll be a part of your journey that’ll put a smile on your face.

From Vision to Daily Action
March 25, 2010
When you have a grand vision that only you can see, how do you go about the process of manifesting it in the physical world? How do you take what has started out as the seed of an idea in your imagination, and turn it into something that positively impacts on the world?
Creating your vision in reality is something that many of us attempt by few people accomplish … Why?
First of all we need a top-down strategic approach. What does this mean? Well we need to start with your overall vision, and then chunk it down from there. This is precisely the approach taken by the Goals Magic System ie Starting with your vision and keep chunking it down until you finally arrive at daily activitys that you can perform right now to move you forward.
Here is an outline of the steps required:
1 – Develop clarity around your vision. Without clarity your vision will have no power. You need to work on developing cyrstal clear clarity so that you can clearly articulate what your vision is to yourself and others.
2 – Break your vision down into 3 – 4 major goals. These major goals may extend over a long time frame such as 1 – 5 years. When accomplished you will be close to having achieved your vision.
3 – Create support goals for each of your major goals that all build towards the achievement of the major goals. Support goals (or current goals) last anywhere from 1 month to 1 year. The best time frame to focus on is around 12 weeks as in the Body For Life program.
4 – Each day review your current or support goals and ask yourself … ‘What can I do today to move towards achieving my current goals?’
5 – Each day do your daily activity. This is where your focus is. This is where you need to direct your emotional intensity, and manage your mind in the moment.

How to Have an Attitude of Gratitude
March 7, 2010
Research and experience has shown that people who count their blessings or are grateful on a daily basis, have a better overall outlook on life. A better life outlook may lead to many positive benefits, including better health.
It’s not all that difficult to show gratitude but it does take a little time and some getting used to. It’s also worth showing children early on the importance of gratitude. Not only does it make you feel good when you show gratitude, but it also helps others around you.
Here are a few tips to help you get into the habit of counting your blessings:
1. Keep a gratitude journal. This can be simple notebook you keep on the side of your bed. Each night before going to sleep write down all the things you are grateful for. Writing things down cements them into your mind and subconscious in a more positive way then simply thinking about it.
It also gives you a nice record to look back on and see how far you’ve come. And if you’re ever feeling low, simply looking through your journal may help life your spirits.
2. Show gratitude. While writing down that you’re grateful is nice, there is no substitute for real life action. Show others you are grateful for them. Give your children a hug daily and tell them how lucky you are to have them in your life. Do the same with your partner. And don’t forget friends and neighbors. While it may not be appropriate to go around hugging everyone you meet, you can show gratitude in other ways.
A thank you note to a friend who invited you for coffee or doing a favor for a neighbor are both simple and very nice ways to show people you care. When you show people you care and are happy to have them in your life, this has a very positive effect that rubs off on everyone.
3. Be a blessing to others. You know you have a good life and that so many others are much worse off. Why not show your gratitude by helping others who are not so fortunate? This is one of the best ways to express gratitude for everything you have.
Get involved in a cause near and dear to your heart. You don’t have to dedicate your whole life to it but a little goes a long way. Volunteer a few hours a week or a month at your local shelter. Or offer to help a local single parent with the school run. Or perhaps an elderly neighbor needs to be driven to the pharmacy once a week.
It doesn’t really matter what you choose to do, but by being involved and helping others who are not so fortunate you send out a real message of gratitude to the universe. You not only help someone else’s life, but you also attract more goodwill to yourself in the process.
